Winemaking
Grapes for this wine are hand-selected from 3 sea-facing vineyard parcels in the mid-levels of our farm, where a combination of fresh sea breezes and decomposed granite soils results in a wine with a distinct mineral edge. The grapes were hand-picked between 22°B and 23°B in the early morning and pressed as whole bunches. The juice is allowed to settle naturally over 8 hours. After fermentation, the wine is left on the fermentation lees for 16 months in old French Oak to enhance the mouthfeel.
Composition
- 96% Sauvignon Blanc
- 4% Sémillon

“Riandri Visser’s first standalone vintage is a cracker. The Cape Point Isliedh is a benchmark South African white and the 2017 is one of the finest to date. Buchu, spice, florals and good fruit concentration are underpinned by a fine acidity with a saline, lingering finish. A greater degree of Sémillon adds gravitas to the 2017; similar to the best ageing vintages of the past.”
