Sauvignon Gris
Sauvignon Gris is a mutation variant of Sauvignon Blanc which has pink grapes. “Gris” refers to grapes which are halfway between white and red.
Sauvignon Gris is mainly found in Bordeaux and Chile with very few plantings in South Africa.
Cape Point Vineyards is one of the first producers to ever plant Sauvignon Gris in South Africa, and only the second producer to bottle this unique cultivar as a single variety.

A soft entry before revealing a rich mid palate of succulent passionfruit and quince flavours.
A silky texture and slight waxiness note balance with a crisp, elegant long finish.
Winemaking
Sauvignon Gris are always the first grapes harvested for the season. All grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted by hand to ensure that only the best grapes get sent to the cellar. Grapes are then cooled down overnight to 4 degrees Celsius. Grapes were destemmed, crushed, and underwent very gentle pressing. Juice was settled overnight in a tank and then transferred to a 600L French oak for fermentation. Fermentation is all spontaneous. Wine is matured in the barrel for 12 months.
